Claire S

Claire SHello my name is Claire Scott, not to be confused with any other Claire’s that may be lurking around the site! I recently started at Geevor as a Learning Development Officer, having graduated last year with a degree in Conservation, Biology and Ecology at Exeter University, in Penryn, Cornwall.  So what am I doing down a tin mine? Here at Geevor I am delivering the learning workshops we have on site as well as the Outreach sessions in the school. I am also looking after the Wildlife on the Edge project which includes a new Biodiversity Trail that was recently opened that guides people round looking at the amazing variety of wildlife and plants we have here.

I grew up in St.Just and have been lucky enough to have travelled extensively in foreign climates. Throughout my travels I developed a keen interest in conservation and believe that education is the key to understanding and protecting our environment and heritage. I regularly volunteer in a teaching capacity for several different local organisations, finding new ways to explore the natural world!

After settling back in West Penwith and undertaking a degree I was very excited when a job here at Geevor came up, giving me the chance to use my new found skills. I am really looking forward to having the chance to be involved in a variety of aspects of the site using my environmental background and my interest in education and our local heritage.
