Summer holiday activities

Join us for an action packed Summer, whatever the weather!

From Sunday July 24th until Friday September 2nd there is something to do every day…

Sundays: July 24th, 31st / August 7th, 14th, 21st, 28th

Geevor talks

Listen to a 20 min talk on a fascinating aspect of mining history, really brings the site to life! No booking required, talks will start at 12.30 pm. Free with site admission.

Mondays: July 25th / August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th 

Geevor crafts!

Get creative and have a go at different tin mining themed arts and crafts activities. Free with site admission. Running 10am-3pm in the Hard Rock Gallery. No booking required. Free with site admission.

Tuesdays: July 26th / August 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, 30th

Sword in the Stone demonstrations by Neil Burridge.

Neil Burridge, Bronze-Age Metalworker and Celtic Craftsman, shows how to cast a Bronze-Age sword and how this ancient metal was worked. 12.30pm and 2.30pm. No booking required. Free with site admission.

Wednesdays: July 27th / August 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st

Stone carving with Rory Te’Tigo

A unique opportunity to try your hand at stone carving with local sculptor, Rory Te’Tigo. Learn about carving granite, from choosing the right texture of stone and knowing your tools. Then get hands-on and have a go at creating your own stone Geevor goat.

Sessions run between 11am-3pm, with bookable hourly slots (prior booking is recommended as spaces are limited). Have a go for an hour each week throughout the summer, or finish a piece of work in one day! Free with site admission.

Thursdays: July 28th / August 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th / September 1st

Hand drilling

A chance to have a go at the jobs miners and bal maidens would have done 200 years ago, try hand drilling, hand barrowing and crushing rocks using a bucking iron. Suitable for all ages (except those using the bucking iron must be over 8 yrs). All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. No booking required, sessions run between 12 – 3pm. Free with site admission.

Fridays: July 29th / August 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th / September 2nd
