Half-term/Jubilee Events at Geevor Tin Mine

Jubilee Crafts – Monday 4th & Tuesday 5th June

Join us for a craft session in Geevor’s Ken Gilbert room. Make your own badge, engine house night light holder, engine house model or Diamond Jubilee crown to take away as a souvenir.

Sessions are ‘drop-in’ with no booking required and run from 11am – 3pm

Hand Drilling – Sunday 3rd, Monday 4th, Wednesday 6th and Friday 8th

12.30 – 3pm

A chance to try your hand at early mining methods. Try out the jobs of tin dressers and early miners with authentic equipment.

Geevor Talks – Monday 4th, Tuesday 5th & Thursday 7th

12.30pm

An opportunity to listen to a short talk by a former Geevor man about his experiences of working above and below ground.

Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Trail – Sunday 3rd – Friday 8th June

Follow the trail of diamonds around the site visiting the same places Queen Elizabeth II experienced during her visit on 28th November 1980 when she opened the new sub-incline shaft. A special commemorative certificate will be given to all visitors who finish the trail and present their completed answer sheets. Suitable for all ages.

All of the above activities are free with site admission.

‘The Night Shift’

Join us for a guided tour of Levant and Geevor Tin Mines to find out about ‘The Night Shift’ in these two neighbouring tin mines. Levant Mine will be steaming to and to the atmosphere. The tour will also include a guided walk of the mining heritage along the coast between the two sites. Also a behind the scenes look at buildings not normally open to the public will be included at Geevor. Bring sturdy footwear and a torch!

Meet (and park) at Geevor 7.30pm for a circular walk lasting until 10pm.

£8 Adults, £6 Children and National Trust members. Over 8’s only. Places limited to 60 people, so please book in advance by phoning 01736 788662 or email bookings@geevor.com
